One of the unexpected things that this blog has ended up doing is talking about Wisconsin stuff to a mostly non-Wisconsin audience. I've heard directly and indirectly from people learning bits about Wisconsin English, following our budget battle from afar, and so on.If you don't have a Wisconsin connection, or some morbid obsession, you may not recognize the picture here, or even know who Ed Gein was. He was arrested 50 years ago today. I don't have the stomach to go into his various deeds, alleged or known, but suffice it to say that he is widely regarded as the inspiration for a string of famous horror movies: Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Silence of the Lambs.
