OK, no matter how busy I am, I have to note this: Lexicographer and all-around notable linguist Ben Zimmer has just emailed to say that he's going to be on "At Issue With Ben Merens" on WPR tomorrow (Friday), from 5 to 6 pm Central time. Here's the core of his note:
I'll be talking about "words of the summer" (starting off with "skadoosh," of course, and covering the inevitable "staycation"). The toll-free call-in number is 1-800-486-8655, or 227-2050 in the Milwaukee area. If you or your readers have got any good new summery words, I'll try to mention them.
Don't miss this one!

I don't know if I've been living under a rock or something, but the first time I ever heard of this "skadoosh" of which Zimmer is so fond was in a column by Zimmer that appeared in the Boston Globe!
