"I'm not going to do (the Bee) next year because I'm moving on to linguistics," he said.Yes, that is the right way to see things: Move on to the real substance of language!

If you read the article, he was actually a competitor in the National Geography Bee, not the Spelling Bee. Regardless, the linguistics bit is still pretty awesome, especially for a sixth-grader.

This kid was a participant in a reality TV show when he was nine!
He was one of the 'pioneer' in the CBS show "Kid Nation" under the name of alex. Nice to know he have grown up since the screening in 2007. He mentioned he liked linguistics on the show.
