Election Day 2012

Yeah, yeah, yeah, the blog's been quiet. Just a few posts here and there, mostly by other members of Team Verb. You try working in the political vortex that's been Wisconsin this fall. I cry myself to sleep while images of Tommy Thompson and Paul Ryan flicker across the TV screen and then wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat dreaming that President Romney has banned scholarly research with particularly heavy penalties for linguists.

But today's the day, and good wishes have been pouring in literally from around the world. Our little precinct was the busiest I've ever seen it and the poll workers said turnout was ahead of four years ago. Other reports around Madison suggest similar patterns, despite cruddy weather (snow/drizzle).

Fingers crossed.
