Political cliche update

I guess it's the season to stay with political issues, although we'll return to more academic stuff soon. Some cliche updates …
The old 'hit it out of the park' for political performances is so worn that I was finding it quaint, at least until I read this on Wonkette recently:
Did Hillary ‘Hit It Out Of The Park’?
Of course not, because the Pepsi Center is an enclosed sports arena! But she did give a speech …
Point taken. The big one now seems to be 'head fake', used for the Dem veep pick, then for the pre-speech rumors about Obama's direction in his speech last night (where I guess he could have hit it out of the park, even though it's a football stadium), and now for the speculation over McCain's veep. Whatevs.

Sarah Palin, just reported by the Chicago Tribune in this minute as McCain's #2 choice, has the wonderful nickname Governor Squeakyclean (see here). And that's irony, since she's current under investigation. Wait, under investigation?

Update, 9:58: Oh yeah, I'm also seeing (but not yet hearing) ReThuglican Party. Not sure that will catch on, especially not with the young mom as the VP pick.

The one I kept hearing during the DemCon (I just made that stupid thing up but I bet I wasn't the first) was "red meat." The commentators kept talking about how people wanted more red meat, meaning direct attacks on McCain and his pal W. I think John Kerry supplied red meat, and so did Bill Clinton. Oops, um, let's not go there...
