Where was The Verb?

So, at long last, The Verb seems to have returned. Monica and I covered for him best we could, but he stares blankly when we ask where the heck he was for so long.
  • Jail? (Always a good bet.)
  • Hospital? (He looks worse than usual.)
  • Lost in the Northwoods?
Is it time for a reader poll?

Does that mean he wasn't consulting for Obama about his VP choice?

Hmmm, I wonder ... he HAS been as tight-lipped as the Obama people about that stuff, so maybe.

But I'm not sure what he thinks of the the senator from your state. Last I recall, Mr. Verb was rambling about wanting to dig up Hunter S Thompson to put some excitement in the race.

Isn't Mrs Verb talking, either?

Haven't seen much of her ... maybe that's how we solve this mystery.

Oh heavens, Mrs. Verb has been here all along. The grandkids tell me that's called "lurking," although I think that word sounds downright distasteful (I know, I know, Mr. Verb keeps telling me to treat language like "data" but to be perfectly honest, that just doesn't seem right to me. But don't get me started) - so anyway I'd rather not use that word, and just say that I was baking. Which is not only true, it sounds a lot nicer. Back to Mr. Verb's whereabouts, I wish I could tell you where he went, but he didn't ask me to come with. But after all these years I'm used to his "fishing trips," and I've just learned not to ask too many questions. I've always thought it had something to do with the government, but goodness, I would never be so rude as to pry into his business life. That nice young man Barry who kept calling, though, has stopped calling, and I think that might have had something to do with it. I don't know what he wanted because of course I would never pry, but I must say that although he has the nicest manners on the telephone he really should upgrade his service because the connection was just terrible - there were all these clicks and noises and I could hardly hear him half the time. Probably one of those "cellular" phones. Well, my goodness, I've just gone on and on here when really the only thing I wanted to do was let you know that everything's just fine on the home front and I've got a wonderful new hotdish recipe I'm going to try out today.

". . .and I've got a wonderful new hotdish recipe I'm going to try out today."

A nice jello and shredded carrot salad would go so well with that.

I hope there is enough left to share later...
