Plutoing update, xkcd

I'm pretty sure some people feel the same way about the verb to pluto* as the 2006 Word of the Year at the American Dialect Society (and Name of the Year at the sister society there). Sure don't hear that one in the wild much. Click here to see the xkcd rollover.

By the way, in other lingua-news, it was nice to see glowing praise for Jan Freeman over at the Log this morning.

*In case you've forgotten: "to demote or devalue someone or something".

I still use that verb.

But I had to explain it to a college freshman the other day. “Whaddya mean ‘Pluto’? What’s that?”
